Academy Coordinator, URJ Kutz Camp

Dates:

June 4-10 – Summer Leadership Team Orientation

June 11-22 – Staff Orientation

June 23-July 19 – NFTY Leadership Experience

July 19-20 – Staff Wrap Up

July 20-23– Summer Leadership Team Wrap-up

CORE AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY

  • Serve as the lead person in building teams of staff to facilitate the creation of innovative, exciting, and teen-appropriate camp programming and curricula for each major.

GENERAL INFORMATION

  • This position reports to the Assistant Director
  • This position is a member of the summer leadership team
  • This position may co-supervise the Program Assistant(s) who will help with logistical and detail components of the program
  • This position requires an individual who will approach each day with a camp-first mentality, always with a sense of making decisions with holistic implications on camp
  • There is an expectation that the individual who fills this position be available between March and June for pre-summer planning, creation of materials, and outreach to program staff and faculty

Position requirements:

  • A heightened knowledge of NFTY programming and exceptional organizational skills
  • Provide leadership and management in the following areas when needed:
  • All-Camp Programming
  • Ability to take on various tasks, from highly defined to exceptionally random, with an expectation that follow-through happens in a consistently positive way

Qualifications

  • College Graduate
  • Three years of experience in a camp setting preferred
  • Proven record of exceptional attitude and follow-through
  • Must have experience and enjoy working with teens
  • Familiar with the goals and mission of the Union for Reform Judaism, NFTY and the Kutz Camp
  • Understanding of NFTY’s Thirteen Principles

Essential Job Functions:

  • Stand and walk to various camp locations
  • Ability to lift and carry 30 lbs. of program supplies
  • Must be able to communicate verbally and hear instructions
  • Be able to see potential hazards in situations
