Mitzvah Corps Wellness Director

Position:

Mitzvah Corps Wellness Director, URJ Kutz Camp

Dates:

June 12-22 – Staff Orientation

June 23-July 19 – NFTY Leadership Experience

July 19-21 – Staff Shabbat

Team:

Mitzvah Corps

GENERAL INFORMATION

  • This position reports to the Camp Director and the Mitzvah Corps Director

CORE AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY: Assessment of mental wellness within the special needs camp community.

The Wellness Director will:

  • Perform a preliminary intake of all camper files
  • Consult with parents before and during camp regarding specific issues with their teens
  • Work with Head Resident Advisor and Resident Advisors to troubleshoot participant issues
  • Handle parent communication as needed.
  • Will meet with participants
  • Will meet with staff
  • Will help with crisis intervention in any segment of the camp community

Qualifications

  • Must hold an MSW, DSW, PhD, PsyD, or MD in related psychiatric field
  • Familiar with the goals and mission of the Union for Reform Judaism, NFTY and the Kutz Camp
  • Understanding of NFTY’s Thirteen Principles

Essential Job Functions:

  • Walk to and from buildings, especially in case of emergency, walk up stairs and hills
  • Ability to help carry, lift, assist participants with average adult weight
  • Must be able to communicate verbally with community
  • Must be able to sense potential hazards, react to hazards/events/asses needs of community
